)Hello! My name is Jenna Fettig. I was born in Laguna Niguel, California, where I attended Dana Hills High school. I graduated in 2010 before starting my journey as a college student. While at Dana Hills I was exposed to a number of incredible opportunities and educators. These teachers instilled inspiration, a desire to learn, and the resources I needed in order to achieve my goals.
After I graduated from high school, I attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where I pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Second Language Studies (for more information on the Second Language Studies program click here ) and receiving a certificate in Pidgin and Creole studies. The diversity of the Second Language Studies program exposed me to a variety of cultures and information that I was able to learn from students and professors from all over the globe. This exposure helped me to become aware of cultural differences in learning; it opened my eyes to the adaptations needed to ensure each student is able to learn in a style that fits their needs. Since graduating in December 2013, I have worked on a number of different ventures where I managed wholesale companies, worked with a variety of business accounts, and starting my own project management company. During this time, I was fortunate enough to travel to destinations such as Indonesia, Japan, Europe, and others. It was during this time that I realized my true passion was learning and education, so I worked to revisit the academic world. I am currently working full time as a substitute teacher in the Central Oahu district , and I absolutely love it. The challenges of being a substitute teacher continue to make me a better educator as I am exposed to many grade levels and subject areas. In my spare time I offer after school/ over the summer tutoring for children who are looking to get ahead or stay fresh over the summer. |
